CITTO is the state organization representing, promoting and protecting the interests of California’s professional indoor tanning industry. Its goal is to encourage responsible tanning and to provide programs, informational support, media liaison and legislative representation for its statewide membership.
Revisions to laws governing tanning went into effect January 1, 2008. The minimum age to tan remains 14, and parental consent is required for 14-17 year olds, to be signed in person at the salon. Additionally, proof of age is required for minors. Other provisions include revised in-room warning signs and revised written statements to be provided to all clients. Here's the full text of the current legislation.
